PAID FOR BY SABAG FOR BH SCHOOL BOARD 2024 FFPC #1472290
Meet Sigalie
Dear Neighbors,
My name is Sigalie Sabag, and I am honored to be a candidate for the Beverly Hills Unified School District School Board in 2024. As a mother of four, with two children currently enrolled in our District schools, and a licensed contractor, I bring a unique blend of personal and professional experience to this role.
With deep roots in Beverly Hills, I am committed to foster academic excellence and ensure that our schools are a source of pride for our community. My involvement as a parent, community member, and business owner equips me to advocate effectively for both academic and administrative accountability. When I take on a responsibility, I see it through to completion.
Our School District needs a board member with the tenacity and courage to address the academic, behavioral and communication challenges we face. If elected, I pledge to tackle these issues through collaboration, working closely with parents, staff, and administration. Above all, I will remain focused on the most important stakeholders: our children.
I have a clear and ambitious vision for our schools. I will work tirelessly to restore our District to its rightful place as a leader in education, and for all 4 of our schools to become nationally recognized Blue Ribbon Schools. To ensure the long-term success of our schools, I will advocate for investments in our students, support ongoing anti-hate initiatives, and hold everyone accountable for maintaining high academic standards. Our District needs change, and I humbly ask for your vote to help bring about that change.
Thank you for your consideration.
Warmly,
Join Team Sigalie

“I love the community. I love our district,” Sabag said. “The school board is extremely important to make any kind of changes or keep anything the way we want it to be. What was very important to me is that the [high school and middle] school is not a Blue Ribbon School currently. It hasn’t been for many years now, which is unfortunate. We definitely need to bring our status up to a Blue Ribbon School.”

Where I Stand
If elected, what would you hope to be one key accomplishment of the board during your years of service?
If elected, my primary goal during my term would be to lead our district to a place where all four of our schools are recognized with the prestigious National Blue Ribbon Award. Currently, our district ranks 155th out of 1,941 schools in California—far from the top 10, where we aspire to be. Achieving this goal will require substantial effort and a strategic approach. Despite having the highest per-student spending ratio in the state, approximately $35,000 annually compared to the state average of $19,000, our students are still performing below academic expectations. This indicates that resources alone are not enough; we must critically assess and improve how those resources are utilized. I am committed to working with all stakeholders to ensure that our investments translate into tangible academic excellence and elevate our schools to the highest standards.
Parents have raised concerns over class sizes, especially for fourth grade at El Rodeo School. How do you think the district should handle this?
Class size is a critical factor in ensuring quality education, and it's essential that we at BHUSD maintain our commitment to small student-to-teacher ratios. To achieve academic excellence, we must ensure that class sizes remain small and manageable, never reaching capacity. To address this, I believe the district should take a proactive approach by closely monitoring enrollment numbers and adjusting staffing levels as needed. This may involve hiring additional teachers, creating more classrooms, or exploring innovative teaching methods that allow for individualized attention, even in larger groups. Our reputation for providing personalized, high-quality education is built on maintaining these small class sizes, and we must prioritize this to support our students' academic growth and overall well-being.
